Students from Catch 22 in Thetford will be taking over a busy city centre cafe in Norwich as part of national Takeover Challenge Day.
On 23 November, 8 students aged 15-20 years old will be swapping the classroom for the kitchen and trying their hands at running KindaKafe, a community cafe and hub on Castle Meadow, Norwich.
Takeover Challenge Day 2018 will see thousands of children and young people across the country step into the shoes of a wide range of adult jobs to gain insight and experience in the workplace.
The students will be put in key decision making roles in the cafe and will be helping to develop new children’s party packages which will launch at the KindaKafe in the New Year.
The event is an opportunity for the students, who all attend Catch 22’s College in Thetford, to gain a taste of running a social business that uses its profits to help people fulfil their potential and combat loneliness and social isolation.
The event has been made possible by the generous support of the Breckland YAB which commissioned Pop Up Enterprises to deliver careers drop-ins for young people across Breckland and to provide access to meaningful volunteering and work experience opportunities.
